Dinner Dates: From the First Course to a Nightcap in the Bar
Amsterdam is a wonderful city to eat in and a slightly lonely one to eat in alone. A dinner date changes that. Your companion meets you at the restaurant, in the hotel dining room or in the lobby beforehand, joins you for the meal and keeps you company for a nightcap afterwards, in the bar downstairs or back in your room, whichever feels right once the plates are cleared.
It is the experience for guests who like an evening with a beginning, a middle and an end: conversation, good food and someone across the table who is genuinely interested in both. Dinner dates are a longer format, so they are on request, confirmed on WhatsApp, while our rates page explains the hourly starting point.

The rhythm of the evening
Most dinner dates follow a natural sequence. First an aperitif, at the restaurant bar or in your hotel lounge while the table is prepared. Then dinner, taken at whatever pace the kitchen and the conversation set. Afterwards comes a short walk if the weather is kind, a nightcap and a relaxed close to the evening. Three to four hours is a comfortable length that spares you from glancing at the time between courses.
Reserve the table in your own name, which keeps everything natural, and let us know the restaurant, the time and any dress code. If you have not chosen a place yet, we are happy to suggest the kind of neighbourhood that suits the evening you have in mind.
Where to book the table
Different parts of the city set different moods. The canal ring in Amsterdam Centrum offers candlelit dining rooms in old merchant houses and illuminated bridges for the walk back. De Pijp is the district for adventurous eaters, with small kitchens from around the world packed into a few lively streets. For a formal evening with white linen and a sommelier, the grand dining rooms around Museumplein and the Vondelpark are hard to beat, and many guests simply prefer the restaurant in their own hotel, where the lift is only a few steps from the table.
Companions who love a good table
Some companions come alive in a dining room. Bianka loves Italian cooking and wine tasting, so she is as happy discussing the wine list as sharing a dessert. Karolina is poised and witty, with a love of opera and architecture that gives the conversation somewhere interesting to go between courses. Danielle, sophisticated and calm, brings classic cinema and poetry to the table, ideal company for a long, slow dinner.
Thea is cheerful and down to earth, with a particular fondness for Japanese food, and she suits a relaxed evening far better than a stiff one. Luna, bold and independent, enjoys wine tasting and theatre and brings a confident, modern glamour to any room. Luna is also one of our auburn and red haired companions.
Etiquette at the table
Think of the evening as dinner with a fascinating new acquaintance. When a waiter or a neighbouring table makes conversation, she takes her cue from you, and she is perfectly at ease being simply your dinner guest. You look after the restaurant, just as you would when inviting anyone to dine with you, while her time was already arranged in the WhatsApp conversation beforehand, so money never needs to appear at the table. Good manners, curiosity and a relaxed attitude take care of the rest.
Dress codes and first impressions
Amsterdam dresses down more than most capitals, yet its best dining rooms still reward a little effort. Tell us whether your restaurant leans towards jeans and a blazer or jacket and tie, and your companion will match the register, from a simple silk dress for a neighbourhood bistro to full evening elegance beneath chandeliers. If you are unsure, smart casual with good shoes is rarely wrong. She will be ready a few minutes before your table, so the evening starts calmly rather than with a dash through the lobby.
After dinner
The nightcap is where many dinner dates find their best conversation. Some guests take it in a quiet corner of the hotel bar, others prefer to go up to the room and open something from the minibar. If the evening has gone beautifully and you would like it to continue, message us and we will check whether an extension or an overnight stay is possible. Any change is confirmed on WhatsApp before it applies.

Q·01
Should I reserve the restaurant, or will you?
Please reserve the table yourself, in your own name. We can suggest districts or styles of restaurant, but the booking and the bill remain yours, as with any dinner guest.
Q·02
How long should a dinner date last?
Three to four hours is comfortable for an aperitif, dinner and a nightcap. Longer formats like this one are on request, confirmed on WhatsApp.
Q·03
Can you arrange a dinner date for this evening?
Often, yes, especially earlier in the week. Message us in the afternoon with the restaurant and your booking time, and we will tell you straight away which companions can join you.
Q·04
Is it possible to meet directly at the restaurant?
Yes. Tell us the address and the time of your table, and she will meet you at the entrance or at the bar, whichever you prefer.
Q·05
What if dinner runs later than planned?
Send a quick WhatsApp message while you are still at the table. When her diary has room, we confirm the new end time before it takes effect.
